US Senator Ted Cruz apologizes for offensive remark about Nigerians

On Monday Oct. 21st, US Republican Senator Ted Cruz told a rally that Nigerian email scammers have been hired to run the Obamacare website, a comment that a lot of Nigerians found offensive. After being bombarded with several phone calls from Nigerians in Houston and all across the US, the office of Ted Cruz has issued a statement from the Senator apologizing for what he said.
The full statement reads:
It’s unfortunate that we’re living in a time where just about every joke can be misconstrued to cause offense to someone.
To the good people of Nigeria - a beautiful nation where my wife lived briefly as the child of missionaries - no offense was intended.
I am fully appreciative of the range of mutual economic and security interests that make Nigeria an important friend to the United States.
And even to those few unscrupulous email scammers who were the subject of the joke, I apologize to you for the unfair comparison to the utterly dysfunctional Obamacare website.

HAWTSHOES - Why not do the walking and let your shoes do the talking......

Dear LIB readers: Can a girl marry her late elder sister's fiance?

From a LIB reader
Can you marry your late elder sister's fiancé three years after her death? The late young lady was actually preparing for the wedding before she died in the car crash. Three years later, her younger sister marries her fiancé. and it got me asking myself plenty questions:
1) Is it too early? I mean, it's been three years.
2) Has he totally forgotten the deceased girl?
3) what if he hasn't, will the new bride bear to see him still thinking about her sister or mourning her on the anniversaries of her death and on her birthdays?
4) I wonder if the deceased girl is happy or sad about the situation?
(You posted the story of the deceased girl when she died but please, keep it out to protect the innocent). I just feel it's unusual and I've been feeling uncomfortable about it. On the day of girl's burial, the young man actually promised never to leave their family. Little did I know this was what he meant. Sigh.

Stella Oduah spotted in Israel as Pres. Jonathan refuses to see her

Aviation Minster Stella Oduah is currently in Israel where she went to meet President Jonathan to explain her role in the controversial BMW car deal and also take part in the signing of the Bilateral Air Services Agreement with Israel. But according to new reports, the president has not only refused to see Stella Oduah, he's also keeping her out of the signing ceremony which will hold today in Israel.

President Jonathan is said to be uncomfortable with the public outrage surrounding the minister and he doesn't want it to look like he's condoning corruption, especially since he's set up a committee to probe the minister.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) said recently that they don't have any documents relating to the controversial bulletproof cars it bought for the Minister.
